Chuck Hagel was sworn in as the 24th Secretary of Defense on February 27, 2013 becoming the first enlisted combat veteran to lead the Department of Defense.He joined the United States Army and volunteered to go to Vietnam, rising to the rank of Sergeant and serving as an infantry squad leader alongside his brother, Tom, with the Army’s 9th Infantry Division in 1968. He earned numerous military decorations and honors, including two Purple Hearts. Prior to his appointment as Secretary, Hagel served two terms as a United States Senator from Nebraska before retiring in 2009 and co-founded Vanguard Cellular, a mobile phone service carrier.

Mr. Frank Kendall currently serves as the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L). In this capacity, he is responsible for acquisition; research and engineering; developmental testing; contract administration; logistics and materiel readiness; installations and environment; operational energy; chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons; the acquisition workforce; and the defense industrial base. He is the leader of efforts to increase buying power and improve the performance of the defense acquisition enterprise. Mr. Kendall has over 40 years of experience in engineering, management, defense acquisition, and national security.

Senator Jack Reed is currently serving his third term in United States Senate on behalf of Rhode Island and previously served as the US Representative for Rhode Island's 2nd congressional district. A former paratrooper and Army Ranger, Reed is a national leader on defense, housing, and economic issues. He has led efforts to promote responsible budgets, create jobs, and strengthen our economy. One of only eight Senators in history to graduate from West Point, Time magazine noted: “Reed is a serious, intellectually honest veteran and an expert on defense issues in the Senate.” In addition to West Point, Reed also holds degrees from the Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School.

Sheldon Whitehouse was first elected to the United States Senate in 2006. A graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia Law School, Whitehouse previously served as Rhode Island's Attorney General and US Attorney. In the Senate, Whitehouse is a leader on climate change, economic fairness, health care and cybersecurity and serves as the chairman of Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism.

Congressman Jim Langevin has represented Rhode Island's 2nd congressional district since 2001. Recognized as a national and party leader on national security, health care and cybersecurity, Congressman Langevin has dedicated his many years of public service at the federal and state levels to the hard-working citizens of Rhode Island. A native of Warwick, RI, Langevin is a graduate of Rhode Island College and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Congressman David Cicilline has represented Rhode Island's 1st congressional district since 2011. A graduate of Brown University and Georgetown University Law Center, Cicilline previously served as Mayor of Providence, Rhode Island's capital city. In Congress, Cicilline has been a leader on reinvigorating America's manufacturing sector and an active advocate for growing American exports through his seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Congressman William R. (Bill) Keating was elected to the United States House of Representatives on November 2, 2010, one of only nine new Democratic Members to be elected to the 112th Congress. He represents Massachusetts’ 9th Congressional District, which encompasses the state’s South Shore and South Coast, as well as Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Keating is ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and Emerging Threats.

Congressman Joe Courtney was elected in 2006 to represent the Second Congressional District of Connecticut in the House of Representatives. He serves on the Armed Services, Education and the Workforce, and Agriculture Committees.
